Spanish tennis players Sara Sorribes and Rebeka Masarova passed their respective debuts on Monday at the Budapest tournament, which counts for the WTA and is played on clay, while Pedro Martínez also did the same at the ATP in Hamburg (Germany), also on red clay.

Sorribes, the fourth seed in the Hungarian capital, had to come from behind to beat Bulgarian qualifier Gergana Topalova, who ended up losing in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 despite being 5-3 and serving in the last. Masarova, on the other hand, had fewer problems against local Natalia Szabanin, whom she beat in two sets 6-2, 6-3.

The other good news of the day for the ‘Armada’ came in Hamburg, where Valencian Pedro Martínez qualified for the second round after defeating Italian Matteo Arnaldi, sixth seed, in two sets by 7-6(4), 6-1.

On the other hand, Albert Ramos’ defeats in Gstaad (Switzerland) against the German Jan-Lennard Struff, fifth seed, who won by a double 7-6, and Marina Bassols’ defeats in Palermo against the Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu by a double 6-0.
