That’s a surprise! A player who wanted to leave BVB this summer is now staying. He may even extend his contract.
Dortmund – Good news for the BVB youth team: Goalkeeper Marcel Lotka will also guard the goal for Dortmund’s U23s next season. At the same time, he will also be number three for the professionals again. This was confirmed by the amateurs’ sporting director, Ingo Preuß, in the latest edition of Borussia Dortmund’s members’ magazine.

Lotka had actually informed BVB weeks ago that he wanted to leave the club. The 23-year-old wanted to prove himself at a higher level than “just” the 3rd division. His performances in recent years certainly justified this claim.
Now the Duisburg native is staying in Dortmund. The reason for this, according to reports, is Ruhr Newsthat no suitable offer for the goalkeeper has come in. There has been contact between Lotka and second division club Eintracht Braunschweig, but they have apparently not come to an agreement.

His contract expires in the summer of 2025. Given his quality, it seems unlikely that the club will let him leave on a free transfer.

It is more plausible that both parties will sit down together in the coming weeks and agree on a new contract. In this case, Lotka would probably get a decent pay rise.
