Iga Swiatek enters the Wimbledon grass court classic with a confident victory. The world number one beats the American Sofia Kenin 6:3, 6:4.
In the first set, the Pole takes a 4-1 lead and remains untouchable after that. In the second set, Swiatek only needs a break to win. This means that she remains undefeated in her fourth duel with the 2020 Australian Open winner.
Katie Boulter’s opening match was a little closer. The Brit beat the German Tatjana Maria 7:6(6), 7:5.
Boulter fell behind 1:4 in the first set, but managed to save herself and equalize at 4:4. Finally, it went to a tie-break, which the local hero won.
In the second set, she breaks Maria’s serve at 6:5, which ultimately leads to victory.
