Tennis: Alexander Zverev moves into the third round at Wimbledon

Tennis professional Alexander Zverev has moved into the third round at Wimbledon. The world number four won clearly against the American Marcos Giron with 6:2, 6:1, 6:4 and is now the second German tennis player after Jan-Lennard Struff to play for a place in the round of 16. “I felt very comfortable on the court,” said Zverev. He was happy to have finished the match in three sets.

This Saturday, Zverev will face Briton Cameron Norrie in London, against whom he has won all five previous matches.

After the first two rounds at Wimbledon, Zverev is still undefeated. The German top player, who lost the French Open final in Paris in five sets against Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, is still aiming for his first Grand Slam title.

Zverev and Siegemund at the Olympics in mixed doubles

Shortly before, the German Tennis Association announced that Zverev and doubles specialist Laura Siegemund would form the German mixed pairing at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Siegemund and Zverev led the German tennis team to victory in the United Cup in Australia at the beginning of the year with strong performances in the mixed doubles. Siegemund recently expressed his dissatisfaction at Wimbledon that the line-up had not yet been decided.
