Braunschweig. The motto of the Braunschweig ATP Challenger tennis tournament BRAWO OPEN this year is “Thirty Love”. The 30th edition and the 30th anniversary of the sporting event will be celebrated from July 4th to 13th at the Braunschweig Tennis and Hockey Club (BTHC) facility in the Bürgerpark with tennis and an entertainment program.
While the yellow felt ball will not fly over the court until Sunday, the entertainment program begins this Thursday evening. To kick things off, there will be an after-work party with the “DJ ALLSTARS” from 6 p.m. Michael Schulte and Max Giesinger will follow on Friday and Saturday. In addition to the start of the sports qualification, Sunday is also family day for the United Kids Foundation. As a special highlight, the younger visitors can look forward to a visit from the stars of the popular children’s series Paw Patrol.
Prize money has been increased
The tournament will retain the ATP Challenger 125 category in its anniversary year of 2024. The total prize money for the participating players will thus increase to 148,625 euros. This means that the BRAWO OPEN will continue to be part of the top category of the global ATP Challenger Tour, will be the most highly endowed ATP Challenger and also the third largest clay court tournament in Germany, according to a press release from the organizers. 32 national and international top players from 25 countries will be taking part, fighting for world ranking points (125 for the winner), bonuses and the winner’s trophy.
Other musical treats include the Royal Bavarian Vollgas Orchestra (July 9), Markus (July 10), Alex Christensen & Friends (July 12) and Culcha Candela (July 13). Also appearing are Matze Knop (July 8) and Bingobär Michael Thürnau (July 10).
