The beginning of a new era in the NBA? The Golden State Warriors react to the departure of Klay Thompson. A real sharpshooter joins the team led by superstar Stephen Curry.

The “Splash Brothers” are no more, are we now seeing the time of the “Splash Buddies”? In any case, the Golden State Warriors have reacted to the departure of Klay Thompson and signed Buddy Hield.

At least that’s what NBA insiders Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) and Shams Charania (The Athletic) report.

According to reports, the Warriors have agreed to a sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers that will bring Hield to Golden State. In return, the Sixers will receive a 2031 second-round pick (via Dallas).

As Wojnarowski reports, the 31-year-old is signing for four years and $21 million guaranteed. He will receive $18 million of that in the first two years and the remaining $3 million as a partial guarantee for his third year. Hield also has a player option for a fourth season without guarantees.

NBA: Hield and Stephen Curry as “Splash Buddies”

Hield is expected to bring renewed momentum to the Warriors with Stephen Curry and form a new iconic duo with the Warriors superstar.

Curry and his former congenial partner Klay Thompson, who now joins the Dallas Mavericks under Luka Doncic, became known as the “Splash Brothers” in the NBA scene due to their outstanding three-point shooting skills.

But since Hield is the player with the most successful three-pointers in the last five years, behind Stephen Curry, the new nickname “Splash Buddies” – an allusion to Hield’s first name – is already floating around.

However, it is currently highly doubtful that Hield alone is enough to make the Warriors a title contender again.
