The FIVB has made official the calendar of the men’s Olympic tournament (27 July – 11 August 2024) which will see Ferdinando De Giorgi’s Azzurri competing in pool B.
Giannelli and his teammates will make their debut at the South Paris Arena 1 on Saturday 27 July against Brazil at 1pm; their journey will then continue against Egypt on Tuesday 30 July at 9am and then close the group on Saturday 3 August at 5pm against Poland.
As is known, the new formula for the Paris 2024 volleyball tournaments provides for the division of the twelve participants into three pools.
At the end of the group stage, the top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-placed teams, will qualify for the quarter-finals.
The quarter-final pairings will be established based on a general ranking, drawn up among the 8 qualified teams. Below is the crossover schedule: QF1 (1 vs 8); QF2 (2 vs 7); QF3 (3 vs 6); QF4 (4 vs 5).
The four winning teams will advance to the semi-finals: SF1 (WQF1 vs WQF4); SF2 (WQF2 vs WQF3).
The bronze medal final will be held on Friday 9 August at 4 pm, while the gold medal final is scheduled for Saturday 10 August at 1 pm.
