The Epic Rivalry Between Stephen Curry and LeBron James: A Decade of Basketball History

One of the most relevant rivalries in the last decade in basketball has been the one between Stephen Curry and LeBron James, two of the greatest players in the history of this sport; especially in the era when ‘King’ James wore the Cleveland Cavaliers jersey and ‘Chef’ Curry cemented the last dynasty in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors.

The Dubs and Cavs had four consecutive NBA Finals appearances between 2015 and 2018, and while the Warriors managed to capture three championship rings, the 2016 title was a tough blow that had a huge impact due to everything that season represented for the quintet led by Curry.

In those Finals the Warriors had taken a 3-1 lead in the series and the Cavs in a huge way turned it around to extend it to the seventh game and raise the Larry O’Brien Trophy, LeBron was left as the MVP of the Finals; what hurt the most for the franchise was the fact that in the regular season the record of victories in a single season was achieved with 73 triumphs, breaking the record established by the Chicago Bulls of 72 victories in the 1995-96 season.

“It was like a healthy resentment towards someone who gets in your way,” señaló Stephen Curry para The Athletic.

“Despite everything, there is obviously the utmost respect for who he is as a person and as a player and how good he is and the challenge of trying to beat him and trying to solve that problem every year,” continued the ‘Chef’.
