The Future of Joshua Kimmich at FC Bayern: Examining Transfer Options

The impending signing of Joao Palhinha from Fulham FC does not automatically mean the end of Joshua Kimmich’s time at FC Bayern.

Despite the Palhinha deal, the German record champions still have the chance to extend Kimmich’s contract, which expires in 2025, writes transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in his “Daily Briefing”.

The “most likely scenario”, however, is still a departure of the German European Championship driver, stressed the well-connected reporter. “It is also being discussed [anderer Klubs] because Kimmich will explore all the options available to him after the European Championship,” said Romano.

“Sport Bild” recently reported that Kimmich would have to accept a significant salary cut if he continued to work at FC Bayern, with talk of at least a quarter less salary. Kimmich is currently reportedly earning around 20 million euros per year.

FC Bayern: These are Joshua Kimmich’s transfer options

It is unclear where Kimmich might end up if he leaves FC Bayern. He has been on the wish list of FC Barcelona and coach Hansi Flick for some time.

In England, speculation has also recently surfaced that the German could join his former coach Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

As “The Sun” reports, Kimmich is considering working with Guardiola again. He once celebrated his breakthrough at FC Bayern under the Spanish star coach. Guardiola has been working at Manchester City since 2016.

According to the British tabloid, Kimmich wants to find out whether Guardiola is considering a contract extension with Manchester City. The 53-year-old is only bound to the English champions until 2025.

Liverpool FC is also said to be interested in Kimmich. After Jürgen Klopp’s departure, the Dutchman Arne Slot took over as coach.
