The Inevitable Continuity of James Harden with the LA Clippers

No maneuver on the LeBron Lakers’ roadmap has been able to avoid the inevitable: James Harden will not leave the city but nor will he leave the team. La Barba will continue exactly where he is.

By Shams Charania sources The Athletic, the zero-time NBA champion will try, one more year, to kill two birds with one stone and bring the glory of the championship to two entities that do not know it: the LA Clippers and himself. A milestone of infinite value to achieve.

The agreement to maintain his services and break his fate will be for another two years and 70 million dollars. That means that if he finishes his contract (something difficult to predict when it comes to Harden) he will remain linked to the franchise until he is almost 37 years old.

Three out of four (so far)

With this move, Steve Ballmer is putting the finishing touches on his big and, to date, failed investment, securing the continuity of two of his three great stars (in addition to Westbrook), Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. While Paul George, who has just rejected his player option to become a free agent, still has a lot to think about and various teams to meet with before deciding whether to change teams or give himself another chance with a Big Three that is dying and in a destiny that seems cursed.

More NBAList of all-time top scorers in the NBA

In his only year as a Clippers player, Harden, League MVP in 2018, has averaged 16.6 points (42.8% on field goals, 38.1% on three-pointers), 8.5 assists and 5. 1 rebound in 72 games and 34.3 minutes of play, taking another leap in his play in the playoffs, but insufficient to beat the Dallas Mavericks who knew how to take advantage of Kawhi’s loss.
