On Tuesday, the Missouri club acquired forward Mathieu Joseph and a third-round pick from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for future considerations.

The Blues then signed defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph, who was a free agent after not receiving a qualifying offer from the Pittsburgh Penguins, to a one-year, $950,000 contract.

In 2024-2025, Mathieu Joseph will play the third season of a four-year contract that allows him to earn $2.95 million annually.

The 27-year-old forward scored 11 goals and had 24 assists for 35 points in 72 games last season. Before joining the Senators in March 2022, Joseph played for the Tampa Bay Lightning. The organization drafted him in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

For his part, Pierre-Olivier Joseph was chosen by the “Pens” in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2017 draft. Last year, he collected two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 52 outings.

Faksa is also coming

The Blues also acquired forward Radek Faksa from the Dallas Stars. They also gave up future considerations.

The 30-year-old Czech scored 19 points in 74 games last season. He will have an impact of $3.25 million on the Blues’ payroll in 2024-25.

Faksa spent his entire National League career with the Texas club, which selected him in the first round (13th overall) of the 2012 amateur draft.
