In 2025, the Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz will maintain the same port rates as this year by applying the same correction coefficient to the ship rate, as well as to the passenger and merchandise rates.

The proposal for correction coefficients and bonuses has been approved by the Board of Directors meeting held at the Rota Naval Base and must be included in the Draft Law on the General State Budget, after having also been previously approved in the Business Plan agreed with Puertos del Estado.

The councillors, who were received by the Admiral of the Fleet and were able to visit the base after the council meeting, agreed to maintain, on the one hand, in 2025 the corrective coefficient for the freight rate at 1.00; the ship rate at 1.18 and the passenger rate at 1.10, the same as in 2024 and the lowest since 2011.

On the other hand, the council has also approved the bonuses proposed for the next fiscal year, among which it is worth highlighting a reduction of the occupancy rate of 30 percent for the RoRo and LoLo container terminals, in order to boost the competitiveness of the port and its adaptation to the circumstances of the international markets and in response to the requests of the operators.

Also, to encourage cruise traffic in the low season (January and February), a reduction of 5 percent in the ship’s tax and 10 percent in the passenger tax is proposed; the latter is also proposed for cruises that stay overnight and is increased to 30 percent, together with the ship’s tax, for those that are home ports.

On the other hand, in order to promote the development of intermodality with the use of rail traffic, it has been approved to apply the maximum bonus of 40 percent to all Intermodal Transport Units (UTIs) with origin or destination in the Port of the Bay of Cadiz transported by train in the Railway Terminal of Jerez and Cabezuela-Puerto Real.

In addition, the bonuses from previous years are maintained for various bulk traffic and ships and floating artefacts.
