The Rally della Lanterna Designated as National Final of the Coppa Italia in 2024

In 2024, the Rally della Lanterna has been designated as the National Final of the Coppa Italia and the event will coincide with the return of the race to Genoa, in its historic home.

The start and finish will be in the city centre, while the route will be based on the classic special stages in the Torriglia area. The Val Bisagno will also be used by the service park, which will be located in front of the Luigi Ferraris stadium. The Coppa Italia Final is one of the most important events with great media appeal; access to the race is reserved for the best drivers in the rankings of the ten national zones and over 150 cars are expected in Genoa.
2023 marked the twenty-sixth year of activity of the ASD Lanternarally, a team that almost immediately linked its name to the Rally della Lanterna, a race that Marco Gallo, Massimo Meli and Vittore Saredi revived in 2000 with a historic edition valid for the Italian 2 Litre Championship won by the legendary Peugeot 306 Maxi of Renato Travaglia. A lot of progress has been made since that sixteenth edition, with many events that have remained in the hearts of enthusiasts, such as the one in 2010 that saw Kimi Raikkonen and a young Sebastien Ogier as protagonists, fresh from winning his first world race. Also in 2010, the Luigi Tabaton Memorial was organized within the Rally, which brought thousands of people to the Fiera di Genova to watch a challenge on the Lancia Deltas between great champions of the past such as Aghini, Auriol, Biasion, Cerrato and Kankkunen.

The name of the Rally della Lanterna has been linked for many years to the Palasport, where for the first time in the world a special stage was held entirely indoors. Valid for the Asphalt Rallies Trophy first and for the Italian WRC Championship then, the Lanterna is now ready to return in style to the city and to play as always an important role also for the tourist promotion of the area.
Among the illustrious names who have climbed to the top step of the podium of the race organized by Lanternarally we remember Elwis Chentre, Maurizio Ferrecchi, Felice Re, Mauro Miele and more recently the young Giacomo Scattolon for two consecutive times before Simone Miele, Claudio Arzà and Alessandro Gino.
Among the races organized in the past, we remember the Rally Città Di Torriglia and the Rally Valli Genovesi, which have remained in the hearts of enthusiasts and have given life to memorable challenges on the special stages of the Ligurian hinterland.
Alongside the Lanternarally activity, the ASD Lanterna Corse Rally Team continues, a team that has always been close to the organizing committee and which in 2022 has found new life with the arrival of some drivers who will broaden the horizons of the Genoese team’s activity.
