Judo men’s 66 kg class representative at the Paris Olympics, Abe Hifumi (26, Park 24), and women’s 52 kg class representative at the Paris Olympics, Abe Uta (24, Park 24), appeared on NHK’s “Family History” (Mondays 7:30 pm) on the 15th. There was a scene where they were surprised to learn how their parents met.
On this day’s broadcast, the Abe siblings’ father, Koji, and mother, Ai, were traced back to their ancestors, and the roots of the Abe family were explored. Among them, an episode was introduced of when Koji met Ai in Umeda, Osaka, when he was young.
Ai recalled her first impression of Koji, saying, “I thought he was cool. He was my type. It was love at first sight and it was a shocking encounter.” Koji also confessed that he thought, “Wow, there’s a cute guy here.”
