The Sixers Eyeing Dorian Finney-Smith: Potential Trade Rumors

The Sixers are not stopping. After recovering Paul George, Eric Gordon, Andre Drummond but also extending Kelly Oubre Jr. and Tyrese Maxey, the Pennsylvania franchise is back in the rumors. Philly would closely scrutinize the situation of Dorian Finney-Smith in Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Nets are starting their rebuild and that could well mean that it’s time for some veterans to go. Cam Johnson comes to mind, but also Dorian Finney-Smith. The former darling of the Mavs fanbase is reaching a crossroads. At 31, he can still provide great service with his blue-collar profile, his defense and his 3-point shooting, even if his shooting is very variable depending on the year. He averaged 8.5 points and 4.7 rebounds this season.

Tied to Brooklyn until 2025 (with a player option for 2026), DFS is a logical candidate at the start and the Nets would be wrong not to try to trade him to recover a pick or a young player to develop. Too old to embody the future of the Nets, the winger should not lack suitors on the market, probably contenders looking for players ready to contribute quickly.

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHypethe Sixers would be among the potential destinations to watch for DFS. At the Wells Fargo Center, he could notably come and replace Tobias Harris at position 4 and solidify a little more a frontcourt which is already very flashy with Paul George and Joel Embiid.

The Sixers will still have to negotiate with Brooklyn and find the right counterpart. Still according to HoopsHypePaul Reed’s contract could be used in a trade. The Buddy Hield file could also be used depending on the Warriors’ counterpart. We imagine that picks will have to be added to satisfy Sean Marks but this file is far from having found its end.
