Thierry Henry had until midnight on Wednesday evening to communicate his list of 22 and choose which of his current 23 players would not participate in the Olympic Games (July 24 – August 9). But the coach of the French U23s did not have to make this complicated decision: Juventus Turin, who will sign Khephren Thuram, asked today for the Nice midfielder to be removed from the group.
“It’s a huge blow, but we have no choice but to deal with it,” commented the Bleuets coach, fatalistically. Henry will now choose who the four reserves will be among the 22 players, and he will announce it to the group in the evening. Third goalie Théo De Percin is already almost certain to be part of it.
A fear for Olise
Furthermore, the fear today is about the case of Michael Olise: the Crystal Palace player is in advanced negotiations with Bayern Munich, and the Bavarian leaders had already decided to block Mathys Tel for the Olympics.
