Tiebreaker Looms as Regular Baseball Season Nears End: UnipolSai Bologna, Parma, and San Marino Deadlocked at 18-9

Perhaps the end of the season was written by a skilled crime writer. With one round to go in the regular season, UnipolSai Bologna, Parma and San Marino have the same record: 18 wins and 9 losses. What’s more: if the teams were to reach a tie, on several occasions they would have to resort to what is called Tqb, team quality balance. UnipolSai is 3-3 (3 wins and as many losses) with both San Marino and Parma. San Marino, on the other hand, is 3-0 over Parma, but next weekend there will be a clash between the Titans and the Ducali. For Fortitudo, on the other hand, there will be Macerata at the Gianni Falchi. And never like on this occasion, Daniele Frignani’s team will be master of its own destiny. With three wins, Fortitudo will be at least second. Knowing, however, that the balance between San Marino and Parma is sovereign, and it is difficult (but not impossible) to think that one of the two could win 3-0 in the next clash.

Fortitudo, meanwhile, wins the match against San Marino (2-1), falling only in the last match against the titans. In the Italians’ test, after the success signed by Perez and Herrera, Crepaldi and Bassani impose themselves in the eighth inning, 6-4. Then Marc Civit does not perform the miracle and San Marino takes home at least one success. Fortitudo, however, does what it had to do and what Frignani had asked. The manager always has a plan A, a plan B and a plan C to deal with what the championship offers. It is possible that there could be some surprises in the market, even if Raul Rivero, in the playoffs, will wear the San Marino jersey. UnipolSai, however, despite having a smaller budget than Parma (which not by chance in recent seasons has swept away pitchers Bocchi and Scotti and even Astorri) and San Marino (same goes for Ferrini and Rivero) wants to try until the end. To regain, perhaps, that title that last year came as a surprise but with full merit.
