Tight Standings in Puribec Senior League as Season Nears End

With just over three weeks left on the calendar, the standings remain very tight in the Puribec Senior League.

Barely two games separate the teams in positions 3 to 6. Frontière FM of Edmundston climbed one place on Thursday night when it defeated CIEL FM of Rivière-du-Loup by a score of 9-4 at Turgeon Stadium.

The New Brunswick team (6-7) is now ahead of its opponent Louperivois (6-8) in 5th place.

The Frontier had 13 hits off the three pitchers used by Francois Caron. Carlos Matos Ortiz led the offense with two hits and five RBIs. James Martinez had three hits.

Seth Querze, who pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief, was the winning pitcher. Antoine D’Amours took the loss.

The Shaker on the Road

Two games are scheduled for Friday night. In Trois-Pistoles, the Shaker will be the visitor. After seven relief appearances, Jean-Philippe Marcoux Tortillet (2-1) will get his first start on the mound this season. He will face Tommy Gendron (1-0).

Also on Friday, Edmundston will visit Kamouraska who will use Jérémie Maillé-Bizier as their starting pitcher.

Seven other games, four on Saturday and three more on Sunday, are also on the schedule for the weekend.
