In Major League Baseball (MLB), July is the month when most trades are completed. Teams that won’t make the postseason move their key players with an eye on the future, and those trying to make the playoffs want talent to take their roster to the next level.
There are five Venezuelans who could help those clubs. Names like Jesus Luzardo, Elias Diaz, Luis Rengifo, Martin Perez y Eugenio Suarezwho have the quality and track record to guarantee a substantial improvement to any payroll, but the current status of each one places them in the market.
So, until July 30, it is quite likely that these Venezuelans will appear in various MLB rumors. They will be among the main players available for any organization that wants to strengthen its roster to present a good offer to keep any of them.
MLB RUMORS
Jesus Luzardo: The 26-year-old lefty is injured and has a 5.00 ERA this season, but the fact that he won’t be a free agent until 2027 makes him a highly desirable piece. The San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles have both expressed interest recently.
Elias Diaz: Probably the Venezuelan with the best chance of being traded in MLB. He will be a free agent at the end of the season and, with a line of .307/.355/.446 with five homers and 28 RBIs, he would work well in many places. The New York Yankees, for example.
Luis Rengifo: The current MLB batting leader isn’t a free agent until 2026, so there doesn’t seem to be a better time for the Angels to trade him. Numerous clubs would like a player who can play every position in the infield and outfield and who also hits .317 with an .810 OPS.
Eugenio Suarez: He is having the worst season of his career, although he is a proven slugger and Arizona does not hide the fact that he is available. For an extremely low price, any team will be able to sign a player with 252 career home runs and a .777 career OPS.
Martin Perez: The left-hander is a pitcher with 300 games of MLB experience. His 5.28 ERA this season is not positive, but it is inflated by an outing in which he allowed eight runs and another in which he allowed six. His experience and ability to work multiple innings can be useful for any contender that needs pitching.

Abraham Toro is another name that could be moved around in MLB. The Oakland Athletics player is having a good season with the bat. He can also play in several positions, so any contender could show interest in the Venezuelan.
