Tour de France: How the green jersey of the best sprinter wants to win the hearts of the French

Still far from the yellow and white with red polka dots in the roadside imagination. The green jersey in the points classification is not the most popular with the French public. Because no French sprinter has brought it back to Paris in the 21st century. The last tricolor to play the sprint ogre and dress like Shrek was Laurent Jalabert. It was in 1995. Since then, it has long been the exclusive property of the German Erik Zabel (six consecutive victories between 1996 and 2001) and especially the Slovak Peter Sagan, record holder with seven successes between 2012 and 2019.

The Skoda company, which has sponsored the green jersey of the Tour de France since 2015, decided to dust it off for several years. No more flashy green, easily visible in aerial views of the peloton but not really wearable as everyday clothing. Or with sunglasses to avoid the flashy side.
