Tour de France: route and profile of today’s stage (6th) between Mâcon and Dijon

Very flat. Just one small hill classified as 4th category in the first few kilometers and then… Nothing. This promises a very calm 6th stage between Mâcon and Dijon, probably for the same scenario and a revenge of the day before between sprinters.

In the tourism department, since sports will probably not be the best stage to see sports, the region is full of medieval architecture that can be admired from aerial images. The end of the stage will cross the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise.

Mâcon > Dijon, 163.5 km, flat

Departure time > 1:35 p.m.; Estimated arrival time > 5:19 p.m.

The profile

The eye of Thierry Gouvenou, race director:

“Another passage through the vineyards. Without being only the wine stage, I think that it should not be underestimated. The finale, especially the last 60 kilometers, can be very tricky if there is a crosswind. There is a risk of echelons. And that could change the face of the stage. In any case, we are respecting the pace that we have set for ourselves by not doing more than two stages in a row reserved for the sprinter. Tomorrow will be completely different. That is the reason that pushed us to organize a time trial.”
