Trade Offers Rejected: Zach LaVine’s Contract Woes

The doors seem to be slammed shut. If at the beginning of June we were saying that Zach LaVine’s price had collapsed, now it seems that it doesn’t matter what package Chicago offers to sign him, since nobody wants to take on his three-year, $138 million contract.

According to KC Johnson of NBC Sports ChicagoThe Bulls have not let up on their pursuit of him throughout the offseason, so much so that they have gone to work putting together more than 15 different proposals to potential trade partners. The answer? No thanks.

In that race to get rid of the guard All-Star team, the Illinois franchise has received some interest from the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors. The latter seem to be ruled out after closing the signings of De’Anthony Melton, Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson. However, there may still be a chance with the Kings, since they failed to make the playoffs last season and seem willing to make a major change to their roster.

While all this is going on, LaVine’s representative, Rich Paul, has taken the floor to say that his client is handling the situation professionally and that in no way has he asked for a trade or is he interfering in the organization’s actions.

“I want to make this clear and clear: This whole idea that Zach has been unprofessional in this situation is false. This kid has played through injury. He has represented the franchise with class. A lot has happened during his time with the Bulls and he has always taken the high road. Do all players get frustrated at some point? Yes. But Zach has been a great professional and deserves better. The Bulls have business to do. And we will let them handle their business,” he said in statements to ESPN. NBC Sports Chicago.

LaVine’s physical condition

It is the other issue that seems to be holding back the ‘buyers’. After a very complicated first half of the 2023-24 campaign, the shooting guard went under the knife to undergo foot surgery that ended his season. Although Chicago insists that he is fully recovered and is already carrying out his classic summer routine before a new season, the fact that he has not played since last January does not help to make his contract more flexible.
