Deep condolences to Chinese badminton player Zhang Zhijie for his unfortunate death

On the evening of June 30, 2024, Chinese badminton player Zhang Zhijie suddenly fainted while participating in the last match of the group stage of the Asian Youth Championships in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
After learning about the incident, the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia and the Consulate General in Surabaya attached great importance to it and contacted the Indonesian Ministry of Health and local hospitals, asking them to go all out to rescue him. Sadly, the hospital’s rescue efforts were ineffective and Zhang Zhijie unfortunately passed away at 00:20 on July 1, Beijing time.
We would like to express our deepest condolences for the unfortunate death of Chinese badminton player Zhang Zhijie, extend our deepest sympathy to his family, and will assist in the relevant follow-up work.
