Transfer Frenzy: Key Moves and Rumors as the Summer Window Heats Up

The summer transfer window is underway and the first stars have already found new clubs. You can find rumors and confirmed transfers from the world of football here.

Even after the European Championship, the transfer carousel is in full swing. The biggest transfer of the summer so far: Kylian Mbappé has left Paris Saint-Germain and is now playing for Champions League winners Real Madrid. But he will not be the only top transfer of the summer.

Important for all Bundesliga fans: German clubs can sign new players until August 30, 2024.

The Italian first division club FC Bologna is still hoping to sign Mats Hummels. The former 2014 world champion has received an offer, but according to managing director Claudio Fenucci, he has asked for a little time to think about it. “We are waiting for a response from Hummels and hope that it will come soon,” said the Italian at the presentation of new signing Thijs Dallinga. “He has taken a few days to think about it carefully.”

According to consistent information from several transfer experts, those in charge at Bologna had already taken care of the flights and an appointment for the medical check before Hummels’ request. “I don’t find anything strange about it. There are no deadlines,” said Fenucci. “We explained the project to him and hope that he accepts the offer. He is a great player who can help us not only on the pitch.”

If the 35-year-old decides to move to Bologna, he would play in the Champions League next season. The seven-time Serie A champions surprisingly finished fifth in Serie A last season. For Hummels, it would be the first foreign stint of his career. The Bergisch Gladbach native has so far only played for Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich. He won the German championship twice with BVB and three times with Bayern.

Bayern player Noussair Mazraoui will probably not move to West Ham United. This is reported by “Sky”. On Thursday, everything looked as if the transfer would soon be completed. According to “Sky”, the clubs had already reached an agreement. West Ham would have paid 15.5 million euros plus four million euros in possible bonus payments to the German record champions. But West Ham and Mazraoui’s agent Rafaela Pimenta did not reach an agreement, which is why the Londoners broke off negotiations, according to the report.

It still seems unlikely that the full-back will stay in Munich. Manchester United, another top club from the island, is very interested in a transfer. The clubs are apparently already in negotiations.

According to media reports, Bayer Leverkusen has found a buyer for attacker Sardar Azmoun. The Iranian is moving from the German champions to Shabab Al-Ahli in Dubai, as reported by Bild and Kicker, among others. According to Bild, the Bundesliga club will receive six million euros plus bonuses. FC Sevilla is also said to have been interested in the 29-year-old.

Most recently, Azmoun was not allowed to take part in training with coach Xabi Alonso’s team and had to train individually. He was absent from the first public training session during the preparation and only reported afterwards.

The 29-year-old was loaned to AS Roma last season. He came to Bayer from Zenit Saint Petersburg at the beginning of 2022. He scored five goals in 32 Bundesliga games. He still has a contract in Leverkusen until 2027.

Has Paris Saint-Germain found a replacement for Kylian Mbappé, who moved to Real Madrid? According to a report in the Italian newspaper “Tuttosport”, Victor Osimhen is said to have agreed to a contract with the French.
