Tua Tagovailoa Secures Future with Dolphins: $212.4 Million Contract Extension

The Miami Dolphins have secured Tua Tagovailoa’s future. The quarterback agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $212.4 million, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported, with $167 million of that being guaranteed.

With an annual average of $53.1 million per season, Tagovailoa will be the third-highest-paid quarterback in the league, behind only Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence, who receive $55 million per year.

The University of Alabama graduate is coming off a career-high 4,624-yard passing lead in the NFL. He also finished fifth in Comeback Player of the Year voting after returning to full-time play following multiple concussions in 2022.

Tua Tagovailoa’s NFL stats

Tagovailoa came to the NFL as the fifth player drafted in the 2020 Draft by the Dolphins. Since then he has 32-19 regular season record and lost the only playoff game he has played.

The Ewa Beach, Hawaii, native has 12,639 yards passing with 81 touchdowns while completing 66.9 percent of his attempted throws. Tagovailoa hasn’t emerged as a dual-threat, but he has 381 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.
