Türkiye-Austria: Video of Turkey’s Merih Demiral’s historic goal after less than a minute of play

You shouldn’t have been late to follow the last eighth-final of this Euro 2024. It only took Turkey less than a minute to take the lead over Austria.

After a corner kick, quickly won by the Turks, taken by Güler, the Austrian defense was unable to push the ball away sufficiently. Posch cleared it to Baumgnartner. Penz deflected it but Merih Demiral was able to take it back and send the ball high and powerful into the back of the net.

The Al-Ahli central defender was then able to scream his joy. With this achievement after 57 seconds of play, he becomes the second fastest scorer in a Euro, after the Albanian Nedim Bajrami who scored the fastest goal in the history of the Euro against Italy, on June 15.

On the other hand, with these 57 seconds, Merih Demiral becomes the fastest scorer in a knockout match.

The winner of Turkey-Austria will face the Netherlands in the quarter-finals. Follow the match live with commentary on the website leparisien.fr.
