The largest sports club in Werdohl, TuS Jahn, is celebrating its 150th anniversary. A large event is planned in which all eight departments of the club will actively participate.
Werdohl – Werdohl’s largest sports club is celebrating a milestone birthday: TuS Jahn 1874 was founded 150 years ago. Together with the active members, the board is planning a large anniversary event for Saturday, August 24th.
All eight departments participate
All members and interested guests are invited to spend a special day dedicated to sports in the schoolyard and the outdoor area of the Kleinhammer primary school. “All eight departments will of course take part,” emphasises chairman Dr. Richard Müller-Schlotmann. The following departments belong to TuS Jahn: badminton, Dolce Pares Eskrima, judo, athletics, cycling, swimming (SV 08), skiing and gymnastics.

From 2 p.m. on the fourth Saturday in August, there will be plenty to see and do for young and old alike. “There will be demonstrations on the one hand, and hands-on activities on the other,” reports Müller-Schlotmann.
Bicycle course, bouncy castle and surprises
All details are not to be revealed yet; among other things, a bicycle course will be set up, reports the chairman. For example, there will be a bouncy castle for the children, and they can also prove that they have a steady hand in the skill game “Hot Wire”. “But of course that’s not all,” emphasises the chairman. Visitors in Kleinhammer will be provided with sweet and savoury treats, cakes and grilled food. There will also be coffee and chilled drinks.
Greetings and special guests
The first part of the 150th anniversary celebrations is scheduled to end at around 6 p.m.; then things will be a little more formal, in keeping with the occasion. “We are expecting guests who would like to say a few words about our anniversary,” explains Dr. Richard Müller-Schlotmann. In addition to Mayor Andreas Späinghaus and the local SPD member of the Bundestag Bettina Lugk, representatives of the district sports association and the Westphalian gymnastics association have also confirmed their attendance.
If the weather does not cooperate as desired, the second part of the event could be moved to the adjacent gymnasium of the Kleinhammer elementary school, the club chairman informed.
Music and dance at the end
After the speeches, the 150th anniversary of TuS Jahn will be celebrated in a convivial atmosphere with DJ music and dancing. The net proceeds from the anniversary day will benefit the youth of the departments.
