U-19 National Team Schedules Trial Ahead of AFF U-19 Cup

Jakarta: The ASEAN U-19 Boys Championship tournament has approximately two weeks left until the first kick off, where Indonesia will face the Philippines at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, Wednesday (17/7).

For this reason, the Garuda Nusantara squad continues to focus on training and the team’s head coach, Indra Sjafri, is also perfecting the team’s preparation with training portions, in order to be able to select the 23 players he will bring to the tournament.

“After we returned from the Toulon Tournament, we had a TC with 32 players and in the past week we have been training with a focus on AFF preparation, and in the next stage we will reduce from 32 players to 26 players this week,” said Indra, Monday (1/7) in Jakarta.

“After that, we focus on tactics to face the group phase. Where we join the teams that can be seen yesterday. From the 26 players, only 23 players are allowed. So we will still reduce 3 more players later,” he added.

In order to get the best results and better preparation for his team, Indra and the other coaches also scheduled trial sessions, both internal games and against other teams.

“We still have several game schedules, later there will be one more internal game, after that there will be one more trial match against Malut United (North Maluku United) on July 6, 2024, then we will leave for Surabaya on July 10, 2024, in the evening we will practice and on the evening of July 12, 2024, we will hold the final trial match against the East Java PON team,” said Indra.
