Uefa bans Türkiye star Demiral

The salute is a hand sign and symbol of the “Grey Wolves,” a right-wing extremist movement. The organization has been under surveillance by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Germany for years.

The Turkish association said on Thursday evening that it was not yet aware of the UEFA ruling. However, there was a deadline until Friday morning to defend itself and present arguments against a ban.

Demiral showed no insight after his celebration. The defender, when asked by BILD, said: “The way I celebrated has something to do with my Turkish identity. I saw people in the stadium who also made this gesture.”

During the European Championship, political messages are forbidden – in the stands and on the pitch. Demiral is now banned.

UEFA is taking a consistent approach. Albania’s Arlind Daku (26) was banned from two international matches by the association. After the second group match against Croatia (2:2), the striker had incited his own fans with nationalist chants – and had even sung them himself. Behavior that was punished decisively by the football association.

An official statement said: “The player did not respect the general principles of conduct, violated the basic rules of decent behavior, used sporting events to make unsportsmanlike statements and brought football into disrepute.” The same now applies to Demiral.

This celebration will be expensive for England star Bellingham

There is also a penalty for England professional Jude Bellingham (21)!

The Real star celebrated with an obscene gesture, grabbing his crotch with his fingers spread. Unlike Demiral, however, Bellingham will not be banned. The former Dortmund player will receive a fine and must pay at least 20,000 euros.
