University of Bologna Athletes Prepare for European University Championships in Hungary

The usual appointment with the European University Championshipsthe main sporting event at academic level, organised by EUSA – European University Sports Association, which will see 5 delegations of athletes from the University of Bologna.

This morning, the teams of were presented at the University women’s volleyball, Men’s Basketball, women’s basketball, judo in taekwondo departing for Miskolc in Hungary from 9th to 24th July.

The Deputy Vice-Rector was present at the event in the Rectorate Simona Tondellithe Delegate for female and male students and for institutional communication Federico Condellothe Vice President of Cusb Valeria Taraborrellithe sports councilor Roberta LiCalziMacron’s CEO Gianluca Pavanellothe Sales Account Manager of Technogym Lorenzo Zitignani e Stephen Mangherini CEO of Matteiplast.

The first to take the field will be the volleyball girls, from 10th to 16th July. Reigning European Champion, the team led by coach Leonardo Palladino and captained by Chiara Mason will be called upon to defend the 3 titles won in 2019 and 2022 in Lodz and in 2023 in Braga.

From 11th to 13th July will instead take to the stage Judo delegation led by Betty Vuk, reigning European University Champion.

The basketballwith the male and female delegations, will be on stage from 18th to 24th July. The women’s team, led by coach Jordan Losi and captained by Elisabetta Tassinari, will be called upon to improve on the bronze medal won last year, while the men’s basketball team led by coach Matteo Lolli and captained by Gherardo Sabatini has 4 gold medals to its name (in 2017 in Miskolc, in 2018 in Coimbra, in 2019 in Poznan and in 2023 in Aveiro), and has the important goal of reconfirming its position at high levels, also in view of the European University Championships that will be hosted in Bologna in 2025.

From 21st to 24th July will close the event Taekwondowho at his second continental participation will be called upon to improve on last year’s placings.

The teams will be dressed as usual MacronAlma Mater’s official partner for the clothing line, which for this edition wanted to give particular emphasis to the logo Uniborecently renovated at the end of a restyling project based on the principle of simplification, which stands out with great impact at the centre of the new Custom Made uniforms.

– Women’s volleyball: 4 participations and 3 golds
