Unrest in Golden State Warriors Locker Room Over Player Extensions: A Closer Look

According to the journalist Ramona Shelburne of the media, ESPNthe respective extensions of Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins did not sit too well in the Golden State Warriors locker room, and specifically with players Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

As it turns out, Green, as he acknowledged on his podcast, could have left for the Memphis Grizzlies, but it had to be the Warriors’ owner who convinced him to back out.

As for Klay, we all know how his love affair with the franchise ended, ending a 13-year relationship this summer after committing to the Mavs for the next three seasons, since as he himself commented, “he needed a change of scenery.”

It is worth remembering that on October 16, 2022, the news of both renewals broke:

  • Wiggins agreed to a 4-year, $109 million contract renewal.
  • For his part, Jordan Poole signed another 4 years and 140 million.

Poole is no longer with the team, as they ended up backing out of his new contract and sent him to Washington in exchange for CP3, and the Canadian is halfway out of the franchise; however, they still haven’t managed to find a new destination for him.

The Warriors’ summer has arguably not gone badly, with the additions of De’Anthony Melton, Kyle Anderson, and most recently sharpshooter Buddy Hield via a sign a trade to be agreed with the Sixers.
