The Gammertingen Royals suffered a completely unexpected 2:3 defeat against the Karlsruhe Cougars in the baseball association league. The decisive factor for the defeat was a weak offensive performance by the hosts.
The Royals went into the match as clear favorites. But it was already clear in the first innings that the Karlsruhe pitcher had the Gammertingen attackers fully under control.
While the Cougars scored their first two points in the second inning, the hosts remained without a point until the eighth inning. Things only got exciting again in the last inning. Two points for Gammertingen gave rise to renewed hope, but that was not enough.
