Aiora Martín and Martina Obrador, the two judokas who represented the Valencian Community at the European Cup held in Bulgaria, have demonstrated the great level of skill and combat that exists in women’s judo and have been able to bring home two very meritorious medals, one gold and one bronze.

Aiora Martín continues to show that she is at her best and, as she did in April of this year at the European Cup held in Berlin, she has once again been crowned champion in the under 40 kg category. To do so, the young Valencian athlete had to overcome three very tough rivals to get the gold. In the quarter-finals she had to face the Italian, Aurora Ferro. In the semi-finals she faced the Turkish judoka Ceylin Coskun and in the final she beat the French Mathilde Aurel to get the victory.

Martina Obrador, as she did in Berlin, repeats podium and third place Valencian Judo Federation and DA

Aiora Martín’s victory was not the only good news of the competition. Martina Obrador in her under 63 kg category achieved a great result, beating the Polish Hanna Zaitseva in the fight for third place and taking the bronze. With this success, the Valencian athlete is back on the podium, as she did in the European Cup held in Berlin, where she fell in the quarter-finals against another Spaniard, Lucía Carpio, but was able to recover and win the next two repechage fights and obtain the bronze medal.

With these two medals, from two great Valencian promises, Valencian women’s judo continues to take off more and more and demonstrate why in the current panorama they must be taken into account.
