VfL Bochum has once again struck on the transfer market and secured the services of Dani de Wit.
The 26-year-old Dani de Wit comes from the Dutch first division club AZ Alkmaar and does not cost VfL Bochum a transfer fee, as his contract in Alkmaar expired on July 1, 2024. The club has already pulled off a similar coup when it signed Ibrahima Sissoko from the French first division club Racing Strasbourg, for whom no money had to flow to Strasbourg either.
On Wednesday evening, the midfielder signed a four-year contract with VfL until June 2028. “Dani has been one of the absolute top performers in Alkmaar in recent years, both in the Eredivisie and in international cup competitions,” VfL sports director Marc Lettau is quoted as saying on the club’s website. “He is a leader who will enrich our offensive game. Dani looks for the goal, is also strong in tackles and is also present in the air.”

Strong attacking midfielder for Bochum
With de Wit, Bochum are getting a strong attacking midfielder who scored ten goals in 32 games in the Eredivisie last season and provided three assists. De Wit was trained at Ajax Amsterdam and has been playing for Alkmaar since the summer of 2019.
Outperformed international competition
Other clubs are said to have been interested in signing de Wit. US Lecce from the Italian Serie A are said to have been vying for de Wit, and there are also said to have been inquiries from clubs in the Premier League.
