Villafranca Hosts Luxurious Sports Gala Recognizing Local Athletes and Clubs

Villafranca hosted on the evening of Friday, June 28, a Sports Gala of luxury, in which seven awards were given to athletes or entities that are a reference for the town.

Specifically, the award was given to swimmer Ariadna Malo Moreno; al Judoka Joel Roncal Pablo; al Alesves-Egüés Basketball Club; al president of CD Alesves, Serafin Garcia Segura; already the footballers Roberto López Alcaide (CD Tenerife), Javier Martón Ansó (Bilbao Athletic Club), e Iker Muñoz Cameros (AC Osasuna).

During the gala, the importance of values ​​such as work, humility and perseverance were highlighted; as well as the sacrifices that athletes make to achieve the highest goals.

The enormous role played by the many people who voluntarily dedicate time and effort in local grassroots sports, to move clubs and entities forward, was also appreciated.

Organized by the Villafranca Town Hallthis event does not intend to have a specific periodicity, and “only wants to be a forum of recognition for our athletes and clubs, which have become references for the new generations and which bear the name of Villafranca outside our town, even internationally,” says the mayor, Mª Carmen Segura Moreno.

It is an initiative that aims to promote positive values ​​and motivation among young people in Villafranca through the practice of basketball. It arises from the passion for basketball among the youth of Villafrancaand integrates 40 players into three teams, which are formed at the municipal basketball school of Villafranca.

The school has the collaboration of the Navarra Basketball Federation. Among his achievements are the organization of campuses, technical training programs for coaches or the organization of federation tournaments and integration activities.

Serafín García Segura
