Vinicius Junior out for quarter-finals after yellow card in Copa América match against Colombia

Last night, Brazil and Colombia met in the third and final match of the group stage of the Copa América 2024. In this group D, the Seleçao had every interest in winning to try to get ahead of their opponent of the day. The objective was to glean the first place which would have allowed Dorival Junior’s men to face Panama in the quarter-finals. At the end of a disappointing match, Colombians and Brazilians leave back to back (1-1). A match during which Vinicius Junior stood out.

“Unmarked”, but not necessarily in the best way. The Real Madrid striker was in fact shown a yellow card in the 7th minute of the match for a slap on James Rodriguez. The Colombian tried to lob his opponent with a blow of the sombrero but came up against the hand of Vinicius Junior.

While this yellow card may seem insignificant, it mostly implies that Vinicius Junior will not be able to participate in the quarter-final of the Copa América 2024 with Brazil. And against Uruguay, it is a huge loss for the Seleçao.
