Violence Erupts in Amateur League Match: Singer Accused of Assault in La Plata

A big scandal happened in the Amateur League of La Plata, where this Sunday, Unidos de Olmos faced Nueva Alianza. According to this media, Francisco Lago, singer of the band “Cruzando el Charco”, was accused of assaulting two players from the 2009 category (7th division) and a mother, after the match ended.

Speaking to EL DIA, a Unidos de Olmos leader recounted the events: “When the match ended, upon leaving the grounds, he attacked a young goalkeeper from Olmos, throwing punches at him that did not hit him.”

Continuing along the same lines, and with violence involved, he stated that at one point, the artist (whose son plays for Alianza), turned onto 184th Street (the club is located on 184 between 43rd and 44th) and there he waited for another player to hit him, a situation in which he also pushed a mother who was with him.

“He hit the other boy in front of me, because I was leaving with the Alianza players and the leaders, as I usually do, talking. And we came across this unfortunate event,” added the leader, who also said that later, both the young man and his mother tried to chase him a few blocks, but were stopped by the same people who witnessed the event, so that it would not get worse.

Once the bad moment outside the club was over, those present assured that Lago had quickly left the club’s vicinity.
