Vladimir Guerrero Expresses Desire to Stay with Blue Jays for Life

Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero doesn’t want to leave Toronto.

“I don’t want to leave. I want to stay here for the rest of my life. But that’s business,” Guerrero said when asked about his future with the struggling team after Thursday’s loss to the Houston Astros, according to TSN’s Scott Mitchell.

Guerrero added that he’s not thinking about how much money he could make in an extension right now or what he could get if he hits the free-agent market after the 2025 season.

Guerrero is hitting .294 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs this season.

“My time is going to come. I don’t know if it’s soon or not, but it’s going to come,” added the 25-year-old, who was born in Montreal and was just named to the all-star team for the fourth time in six years.

Guerrero mentioned in late June that he would agree to play for the Yankees if he was traded to New York after repeatedly saying he would never join the team.

The Blues are now 8.5 games behind in the race for the runner-up spot and could make a move before the July 30 trade deadline.
