Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Named Starter for MLB All-Star Game

(Toronto) Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been named a starter for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

Guerrero will represent the American in this mid-season classic for the fourth time in his career.

Guerrero, 25, was voted into the AL starting lineup by fans, beating Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle.

The only other Blue Jays players to appear in at least three All-Star Games are Jose Bautista (four), Roberto Alomar (four) and Joe Carter (three).

Guerrero is batting .298 and has a .376 on-base average. He has hit 13 home runs and driven in 50 runs so far this season.
