NBA Free Agency: Warriors submit trade offer for Lauri Markkanen

The Golden State Warriors have apparently made a “significant trade offer” to the Utah Jazz for Lauri Markkanen, as Tony Jones (The Athletic) reports. However, this also applies to the Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs. The Jazz have not yet decided whether they want to part with the “Most Improved Player” of the 2022/23 season.

A few days earlier, it had been reported that Utah would either want to add a second star to the Finn’s side later this year or trade Markkanen for his highest value, which would be now, as his very cheap contract ($18 million annual salary next season) expires next summer.

After moving from the Cavs to the Jazz two years ago, Markkanen made a huge jump from 14.8 to 25.6 points per game with significantly better stats, earning him his first All-Star award. The 27-year-old posted similar numbers last season, but only in 55 games. His career has been plagued by injuries anyway, and he has never managed more than 68 appearances.
