“We lacked a lot of energy this evening,” admits Calvet, the Bleuets’ coach.

At a press conference this Friday evening, the coach of the French under-20 team returned to his team’s defeat in the final against England (21-13).

Sebastien Calvet (manager of the French under-20 team, beaten 21-13 in the World Cup final): “When you get to the final, you give yourself the right to dream but honestly, in that match at least, the English were better, they were impregnable and we have to congratulate them. This year, the power was on their side. We lost against better players than us but I am still very proud of my players. I think about the energy expenditure we put in during our fabulous semi-final (against New Zealand, editor’s note) and we lacked a lot of energy tonight.”.
