“The following film was designed entirely by an AI.” This is what it says at the beginning of “The Last Screenwriter”. At its core, the question is how good a film can be if its script was written by an AI. Whether the result of the film is really – as director Peter Luisi claims – that computers can be “very creative” needs to be questioned. After all, ChatGPT 4.0, the language model that created the script, “only” responded to questions and instructions from a human. ChatGPT does not have the human-like independence and imagination that the term “creative” suggests.
