Women’s Champions League: Favorable draw for Paris FC

Last season, Paris FC had to eliminate Arsenal, semi-finalists of the 2023 edition, and secured their qualification for the second round of the Women’s Champions League. Thanks to its fine performance (qualifying for the group stages after eliminating Arsenal and Wolfsburg), the Parisian club was seeded this Friday for the draw for the first preliminary round, at UEFA headquarters in Nyon.

Qualified for the third consecutive year, Paris FC was placed in Group 2 and inherited a draw that seems rather favorable on paper. For their first match, Gaëtane Thiney’s teammates will face FC First Vienna 1894 on Wednesday, September 4. The oldest club in Austria, Vienna is participating in the Champions League for the first time.

If successful, the Parisians will play against the winner of the match between the Czechs of Sparta Prague and the Swedes of FC Linköping, on Saturday September 7 for a ticket to the second round of the competition. This qualifying tournament will take place in Sweden.

The second round will mark the entry into the competition of PSG, while Lyon, the French champion, is directly qualified for the group stage.
