The national women’s basketball team is ready to begin its journey towards the next competitive challenges. This Wednesday, the Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB) announced the preselected players for the Pre-Qualifying Championship for the 2026 World Cup and the 2024 South American Championship.
The Pre-Qualifying tournament will be played in Mexico City from August 19 to 25, followed by the South American tournament in Santiago, Chile from August 31 to September 7.
Among the new additions to this squad is the retirement of eternal captain Ivaney Marquez. However, she will be the Team Manager of the national women’s team.
FVB President Hanthony Coello said that Roselis Silva was sanctioned by the FVB for not attending a previous call-up, which is why she is not part of the pre-selected players for these tournaments.

Likewise, the summoned players will be concentrated at the National High Performance Basketball Center “El Poliedrito” in view of these new challenges.
