In Zverev’s first-round match at Wimbledon, which the Hamburg native won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (31) 6:2, 6:4, 6:2, the 2014 world champion sat in the box of the two-time tennis world champion (2018, 2021).

Zverev told BILD: “We have been friends for years. We have a mutual friend in Monaco, and we met through him.” Khedira was also once in a relationship with model Lena Gercke (36), who also knows Zverev well.
Khedira, who is now together with former international player Melanie Leupolz (30) from Chelsea FC London, lives mostly in the British capital. So the journey to his friend Zverev at Wimbledon was not far.

Zverev: “Sami is a great guy! Super nice and just a great person. It was really nice that he was there.” For the former Stuttgart player, the trip to tennis was a welcome change, as he is currently mainly present in the stadiums for the European Football Championship.
Therefore, he will not be there on Thursday when Zverev has to face the American Marcos Giron (29) in the second round.

In recent years, Wimbledon has repeatedly been a hotspot for (ex-)footballers. The current ZDF European Championship experts Per Mertesacker (39) and Christoph Kramer (33) were at the Church Road facility last year, and England’s national coach Gareth Southgate (53) has also been here in the past.
On Tuesday, David Beckham (49) was a guest and watched Carlos Alcaraz (21), Mats Hummels (35) is still to come. Zverev: “I think Mats is great. If I were a club, I would get him immediately.”

Zverev is a fan of Hummels’ former club FC Bayern Munich. At home in Monte Carlo, he often goes to AS Monaco’s games. He has good relationships there and sometimes hangs out with some of the players. Among others, former national player Thilo Kehrer (27) is under contract there.
