Xavier Tillman Signs Contract Extension with Boston Celtics

Contract extensions are all the rage this summer in Boston. The latest Celtics player to extend his contract? Center Xavier Tillman.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski ofESPNTillman has just signed a new contract as a free agent with Boston, for a period of two seasons. His salary is at the minimum. He extends one day after Jayson Tatum and Derrick White.

As a reminder, Tillman is just coming out of his rookie contract after four years in the NBA.

Xavier Tillman arrived in Boston from Memphis last February, traded for Lamar Stevens and two second-round draft picks.

In 20 regular-season games with Boston, the 25-year-old center averaged 4 points and 2.7 rebounds. Despite center Kristaps Porzingis’ injury in the playoffs, Tillman was barely used during the Celtics’ title run, but did get some minutes in the NBA Finals in Games 3 and 4 in Dallas. He was particularly valuable on defensive sequences against Luka Doncic. himself.

Appreciated in the Boston group, Xavier Tillman remains with the Celtics and will perhaps have a slightly more important role next season. We remind you that Porzingis – operated on this summer – will miss the recovery and that Al Horford is approaching 40 years old.

Brad Stevens is very clear: run it back 100%.

Aside from the Oshae Brissett case (who is currently preparing for the Olympics with Canada), the Celtics will leave with a virtually intact roster.

Back to back quest = continuity.
