Yeongam Girls’ Middle School Dominates in Futsal and Badminton Events at School Sports Club Competition

Yeongam Girls’ Middle School (Principal Won-cheol Ahn) won the girls’ middle school futsal and badminton events at the Yeongam Education Superintendent’s Cup School Sports Club Competition.

On June 27th, at the Yeongam Sports Park, the Education Superintendent’s Cup Sports Club Competition was held in three categories: high school (boys and girls), middle school (boys and girls), and elementary school (boys and girls). The girls’ middle school futsal event won the championship again this year, following last year.

In the badminton event, we narrowly came in second place last year, but won this year. With this win, we will be representing Yeongam-gun in the Superintendent of Education Cup School Sports Club Competition to be held in the second half of this year.

Kim Ga-yeon (3rd year), the futsal team captain, said, “I’m happy that we won. I was very disappointed that we came in second in last year’s competition, but I want to practice harder this year and win before I graduate to make good memories of my school days.”

Yeongam Girls’ Middle School PE teacher Yong-gyu Cho said, “As a result of practicing during school sports time, after-school time, and lunch time,” and “In particular, the students had an unusually high level of interest and curiosity in sports and a willingness to learn, so there was no great difficulty in teaching them.”

Meanwhile, Yeongam Office of Education (Superintendent Gwang-su Kim) holds a school sports club competition every year to expand the base of school sports clubs and create a school sports culture where everyone can learn and grow together through various sports experiences and be happy.
