Young Judoka from Oelde Hapkido Club Pass Belt Exams and Advance to Next Level

By successfully passing their belt exams, 15 young judoka from the Oelde Hapkido Club have reached the next higher student level.

Oelde (gl) – 15 young judoka from the judo department of the Hapkido Club Oelde recently successfully completed their belt test for the next higher student level. Under the watchful eyes of examiner Jens Peternathe and the trainers, parents and siblings present, the judoka demonstrated the test program required for their next belt.

“Backward Fall School” presents

Despite all the excitement, all of the test participants were able to receive their new belts afterwards. The youngest participants were four children from the beginners’ group. According to the Hapkido Club’s report, they had to show that they understood the basic tasks in judo and each presented “a great backwards fall technique as well as a throw and a hold”. All four were also able to put the knowledge they had already learned into practice in the Randori practice fight.

According to the report, for the yellow belt exam, the participants had to demonstrate a few more techniques and also implement them in Randori. All five candidates managed to do this despite being very nervous.

Training for next belt level begins

The difficulty increased with the subsequent belt levels, so that at the end of the test many beautiful techniques were demonstrated. With the new belt, the children and young people begin training for the next Kyu, i.e. the next belt level. Hapkido is a Korean martial art that is used for self-defense. Loosely translated, the abbreviation Hapkido means “path to harmony between body and mind”. Judo is a Japanese martial art, one of the traditional pillars of which is practice fighting (Japanese: Randori).
