Youth Badminton Club Nieuwerkerk (BCN) Takes First Place at Dutch Championship Clubteams

The youth of Badminton Club Nieuwerkerk (BCN) have won the first place in the category C1 at the Dutch Championship Clubteams last weekend. Below is a report by Pim Vente from BCN.

The team met Flits BC in the first match, a team consisting of 5 boys. Tobias played the first singles against a young but strong opponent and partly due to tension Tobias lost the first game. The second game went better and Tobias managed to force his opponent to make many mistakes. In the third game the resistance of the opponent was broken and the first point was won. Thomas played the second singles. He lost the first game narrowly, won the second game convincingly, but fell behind in the first part of the third game. Thomas fought back well, but served out at 17-18 and partly because of that lost the match. Hugo played the third singles. He was not in the game well in the first game and lost that game. In the second game Hugo got into his game better, but unfortunately not good enough to win the game. Thus a 2-1 deficit with two doubles to go. Tobias and Yenthe played the first doubles. Where the opponent tried to put our lady under pressure, Yenthe had an answer ready at the net. The match was won in 2 games and so it was 2-2 with 1 double to go. Hugo and Thomas played a great double, were relaxed and did not give their opponent the idea that there was anything to get. 3-2 win against the first of three opponents. Next opponent BC Randstad.

Opponent 2 Randstad BC had lost their first matches 4-1. Tobias won the first singles quite easily 2x 21-13. Then it was Hugo’s turn, who lost the first game and was behind for a long time in the second game. But at 20-18 behind, the turn came and Hugo took the second game 24-22. Then Hugo got into his game better and his opponent had no answer anymore. Also won the second single. Yenthe played her single against a boy from Randstad, started the first game well, but in the end it was the boy from Randstad who managed to win the game. Yenthe could not turn it around in the second game and unfortunately lost her single. 2-1 lead, so 1 of the doubles still had to be won. Yenthe and Tobias played against 2 men, but were much better. With set scores of 6-21 and 7-21, the opponents were left without a chance and the winning point was achieved. Hugo and Tobias played against a women’s double. They didn’t play their best game, but won easily in 2 games. 4-1 win and still 1 hurdle to go. The last match is the opponent BC Elst, who won 1x and lost 1x.
