Zverev/Siegemund to Compete in Olympic Tennis Mixed Doubles Tournament in Paris

Germany will compete in the Olympic tennis tournament in Paris with the mixed doubles team Zverev/Siegemund. They played together successfully in January.

Olympic singles champion Alexander Zverev will also compete in the mixed doubles at the Olympic Games in Paris, together with doubles specialist Laura Siegemund. The German Tennis Association confirmed this on Thursday (July 4, 2024).

Siegemund doubles specialist, Zverev best German professional

Siegemund is ranked sixth in the doubles world rankings. The 36-year-old has already won three Grand Slam titles in doubles and mixed doubles. She will also compete in the women’s doubles competition with Angelique Kerber. Siegemund recently expressed dissatisfaction at Wimbledon that the line-up for the mixed doubles had not yet been decided.

Alexander Zverev only played doubles regularly and successfully at the beginning of his career, together with his brother Mischa. He will not compete in the men’s doubles in Paris either. He only wants to hunt for medals in two disciplines: in addition to the mixed doubles, he also wants to hunt for singles, where he won gold in 2021. He is in top form in singles this year as well and only narrowly lost the final of the French Open to Carlos Alcaraz in Paris.

Duo already successful in January

The duo Siegemund and Zverev already worked well in January, at the “United Cup” in Australia. At that time, Siegemund and Zverev led the German tennis team to victory with strong performances in the mixed doubles.
